It is essential to properly understand the meaning of words that we come across while reading a passage of Scripture. Some words may be unfamiliar. Words might have several possible senses depending on the context. And the biblical authors were writing in a different language than most of us speak. This is why we must take our time to carefully consider key words and phrases when we study the Bible. In an earlier lesson we highlighted some of the key words found in John 6:25-58. In this video we will select one of these words to conduct a word study. First, pay attention to how that word is used in the context of this passage. Then, track other uses of the word using a concordance or Bible software throughout the Gospel of John. You may also want to broaden your search, and look up uses of that word in other books of the NT. Remember, the Bible was originally written in Greek and Hebrew, so you will want to trace that specific term and look it up in a Greek lexicon or dictionary. Even if you have not studied the original languages, there are many tools that can help us accomplish this task. The video will point you to some of these resources.
